About me
I'm Rachel "Ray" Manderfeld and my pronouns are they/them.
Self-motivated and high-achieving, I’m passionate about innovative approaches with data and making valuable contributions and actionable insights for decision making.
Python is the language I work in and I'm currently doing a deep dive into machine learning. I'm excited to work with spatial and time-series data. As I learn, I'll be blogging here.
My recent work implements solutions that enable automated data pipelines from on-prem to cloud-based storage and automate ETL web map production using Python. I also use geospatial data to interact with large, non-spatial datasets, across different platform types.
My superpowers
Uniquely skilled at finding needs-gaps, initiating solutions and communicating technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
I'm seeking opportunities where I can apply my technical and analytical skills to projects that require extracting insights from data.
My wide-range of skills and experiences include applied information management, transforming geospatial data, project management, and stakeholder communications.
What I value
Teams with collaborative approaches and a curiosity-mindset, and environments that support continuous learning and career development.
Data infrastructure that maintains integrity.
What I'm Doing
Machine Learning: Data manipulation, visualization, applying ML algorithms, and neural networks & deep learning. Model and automated deployment, scaling, serverless-deep learning.
Data Engineering: Workflow orchestration, Data warehousing, analytics engineering, batch processing, streaming processing
How I got here
Data has always fascinated me. As a child, I imagined there was a nation-wide database whereby it was possible to identify how many people in a particular town drove a particular car, of a specific colour and purchased certain products at a specific store. Of course, that didn't actually exist then, but today it is our reality.
Big data is a cosmology of complexity and possibility! Truly wonderful. Spatial and time-series data are my specialty.
My professional path is a wealth of experiences that winnow through information science and geomatics. Being a naturally-curious person, I explore and gain insights and valuable experiences from unconventional places.
